Our Story:

Eastern North Carolina is famous for its beaches, friendly atmosphere, and its distinctive, quality seafood. While many people may enjoy ordering from the oyster bar at their favorite restaurant, not many people are aware of where their oysters come from let alone the hard work that goes into getting those oysters from the water to the table. From the dreaded task of waddling around in freezing cold water to split bags in the winter months to the hassle of applying for (and then keeping the rights to) a lease from the state, oyster farming is not a career to be taken for granted. That's why we decided to host an annual nonprofit event to raise money for and spread awareness about oyster farming and the role it plays in our small town.
